Mississippi Roast Recipe

 

Ingredients:

  • 1 (3-4 lb) chuck roast
  • 1 packet Hidden Valley Ranch dressing mix
  • 1 packet McCormick Au Jus gravy mix
  • 5 whole pepperoncini peppers (from a jar)
  • ½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
  • Optional: carrots, potatoes, or other vegetables

  1. Prepare the roast: Place the chuck roast in the slow cooker.
  2. Season: Sprinkle the Ranch dressing mix and Au Jus mix evenly over the roast.
  3. Add butter & peppers: Place the stick of butter on top, then scatter the pepperoncini peppers around the roast.
  4. Cook: Cover and cook on LOW for 7-8 hours (or on HIGH for 4-5 hours) until the meat is tender and easily shreds.
  5. Optional veggies: If adding carrots or potatoes, place them in the slow cooker during the last 2-3 hours of cooking.
  6. Serve & enjoy! Shred the meat with forks and serve with the flavorful juices.
